This is my first time to read an English novel, especially not a translated version. The reason is that I have to read it with my son to finish a course work arranged by his teacher. We can choose one book from other four and I chose this one without hesitation, since it is the shortest one. At first I found it was so hard for me to understand the words the phrases and the sentences written by those native speakers, because the way we think and express things is so different due to the culture difference. But indeed, to some extent, reading original novel will be very helpful for us, especially our children to understand more about the culture and the way of thinking. When I finished the first chapter, I gradually got used to the writer’s style and means of expression. I found the story was so interesting and attractive although there were also some words I have to seek help to the dictionary. However I hope all the children will like this book and benifit a lot from it.

不知道哪家亲戚。送了我娃一本拼音版的《绿野仙踪》，我抱着试试看的态度，开始读起了这本英文版，出乎意料的是，这本书的英语居然如此简单，对于一个英语门外汉，稍加辅助词典，也能轻松读完。女儿每天看拼音版的两个故事，我在工作间隙阅读，阅读越有趣。简直就是美国版的《西游记》。我们每天也会讨论一下情节，小朋友也被故事深深吸引，而我，也被作者的用词，比喻，排比，以及故事里面表现出来的真善美所打动。如果《哈利波特》阅读起来还有困难，尤其是英文版，那么，这是一部非常好的入门级英语故事书。
